What goes on and on and without any end? Yes, you are right; it is TV which works even on your off day. If you want to be a Journalist you need to keep one thing in your mind. That news never comes at your convenience. Sometime this profession will ask you to sacrifice most of your important days like anniversaries, vacations, birthdays, and there is a possibility that you will even miss your personal relationships too. Every coin has two faces, if there is a darker side of this profession, there is a brighter side also. You get fame, money, adventure, and the ability to know the truth and make the world aware about it.
What is Journalism? It is the collection and scattering of information related to the current affairs, trends, people and issues with an unbiased viewpoint. There are different names for a TV Journalist: news analyst, news anchor, and newscasters. Despite having so many different titles, all television journalists perform the same task- obtaining of the current information either local or worldwide, organizing the information in the correct order and presenting that to the public through television.
To be a Journalist you need to have a bachelor's degree of four years in mass communication or journalism. The education, at any level whether it is university or a college, usually includes both classroom lecture and internship. Most of the colleges and university provide a bachelor's degree in mass communication and journalism.
Beside your educational qualification, one needs to have lot of other attributes also in order to be successful journalist. You need to have an effective communication skill, negotiation skills, patience, and ability to see the broader picture, convincing power, optimum utilization of the recourses available, a good story teller, and presentation skills.
There are various ways through which a journalist can collect the information. They can use a field report, through field work by them only, which is also known as first hand report, and also borrowing it from the other news agencies. Field report is directly linked with the television journalist like live audio or video transmission from the place of the story. A lot of job opportunities are available in this sector as most of the larger broadcasting stations hire journalists who have specialization in this type of reporting. Every day in TV is different than the previous; each day comes up with a new challenge. You meet interesting people and learn their views and ideas. You can go skydiving on one day and other day you can be covering a court case.
One may start up with a low salary but it is one of those careers which a person pursues because of his dedication, passion and love towards it, as well as his belief that his work can make a difference to the world. However, this does not mean that you will get a low salary forever – money comes eventually. A career in TV comes with both fame and responsibility. With a lot of adventure and money one needs to stick to the truth and deliver your message to the world the best you can.
