Remote Traffic Coordinator II

The Remote Traffic Coordinator II position is responsible for ordering transmission and telecom services for ESPN remote events. These services will include the procurement and coordination of transportable and fixed satellite earth stations, occasional satellite transponders, high and low bandwidth fiber, voice and data circuits, encryption and compression technologies, and other telecom services and facilities as needed. Development and management of cost budgets for each program delivery is mandatory.
Procure transmission and telecom services ESPN remote events of varying size and scope.
For all assigned programs and events, gather and integrate necessary technical, operational, and fiscal information from within Remote Traffic, various other ESPN departments, and from sources outside of ESPN.
Gather cost information, create budgets, and distribute that information to relevant individuals or departments.
Create work orders containing service information for that particular event. Distribute this work order to all relevant parties in a prescribed time period before the event.
Evaluate invoices for all services ordered, and process these invoices by coding them to the correct cost centers in a timely manner.
As assigned, provide service and support of on-site transmission at U.S. remote sporting venues.
As assigned, provide service and support of on-site telecommunications at U.S. remote sporting venues.
Attend site surveys for assigned remote events for venue analysis and written pre-event plans.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge about the operational and technical aspects of various telecom services and equipment at a level necessary and appropriate for fulfilling the departmentâ€™s responsibilities.
Ensure that telecom services and equipment vendors meet and maintain ESPN technical and operational standards.
Research and suggest more advanced or cost savings solutions to performing Remote Traffic functions.
Undertake special projects as assigned by management.
Periodic weekend and evening hours required.
Basic Qualifications :
Candidate must possess strong communications and interpersonal skills and organizational abilities.
Candidate must be able to maintain attention to detail and work independently in a demanding deadline driven environment.
Preferred Qualifications :
A minimum of 4 years professional experience related to broadcast or technical operations including on-site experience with remote venue telecommunications.
Professional experience in operating processes of remote sports productions.
Fundamental knowledge of Production workflow and operating systems.
Knowledge of telecom services.
Experience managing and implementing multiple budgets.
Required Education :
High School diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Education :
Bachelorâ€™s Degree or equivalent.
