WWSB ABC7 in Sarasota, Florida is looking for an Assistant News Director to guide the day-to-day operations across multiple platforms.
This position is critical in helping plan long and short-term coverage and strategic planning in real time distribution methods. A strong journalism belief and understanding of ethics is imperative. Ability to manage, train and inspire colleagues required. The Assistant News Director will be the primary point person in breaking news and big events as well as day-to-day story coverage that molds perfectly in line with the strategic plans of the station and company guidelines. This person will also oversee the sweeps planning for the newsroom and scheduling of newsroom staff. You should be able to manage, coach and train people, while working with the other departments at the station.
A minimum of 3 years in newsroom management is required. You should have working knowledge of newsroom computer systems, CMS experience, and be a social media guru and know how to weave it all together day in and out. Candidate must successfully complete pre-employment drug screen and MVR check.
