Continuation of the position will be determined by availability of ongoing funding. Work hours and days will be variable throughout the assignment. Applicants must provide demo files or links to work demonstrating creative and ambitious work as a reporter or producer. To further the mission of KUT as a source for news and engagement by assisting host and producers to produce the signature daily news program, Texas Standard. To conceptualize and execute news elements for broadcast, online and social media.
Books, produces and edits taped interview segments as assigned. Books on site and remote studio time. Assists with the production of original segments, daily promos and other content. Produces daily web posts as assigned and assists with producing show content for other digital streams as assigned. Works with host, managing producer and creative team to develop novel and innovative ways to present content online, on social media and on air. Maintains updated contact lists; Assists with pre-interviews, background research, and questions for host. Covers live events as assigned. Records audio and takes photos as assigned. Reports as assigned. Attends production meetings and assists in scheduling including writing, editing, copying and distributing schedules and scripts; helps organize meetings and other arrangements for staff. Works to ensure the consistent flow of communication among program staff and news staff. Works with editorial staff to review and produce audience feedback for programming. Interfaces with on-air personalities, engineering staff, marketing/advertising staff, talent and artists.
Other related functions as assigned.
High school diploma or GED. Familiarity with newsroom operations. Experience using radio on-air control room equipment and audio editing software. Experience meeting strict deadlines. Must be able to demonstrate you are creative, self-directed and talented producer. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Bachelor's degree in Radio/Television/Film, Communications, Journalism or related field. At least one year full-time broadcast reporting and/or production experience in radio or news programming. Demonstrated ability to conceptualize news coverage for broadcast in creative or innovative ways. Familiarity with Texas Standard product and projects. Superior production skills including demonstrated ability to use Adobe Audition and mix own stories for broadcast under tight daily deadlines. Photo/video production experience. Spanish speaking skills.

Variable work hours to include being on-call nights and weekends and working some holidays. Off-site travel.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas ( TRS ), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
