To further this mission, Rocky Mountain Public Media seeks a full-time Investigative Producer.

DESCRIPTION:

The investigative journalism team is seeking a producer with strong investigative and data journalism skills.

TYPICAL DUTIES: 

Develop, research, write and produce ground-breaking primary investigative and long form pieces for broadcast.  Contribute story ideas and help shape editorial direction and consistency of program.  Demonstrate leadership and experience for other staff members.  Work with news team for long-term editorial planning.  Help establish and ensure that deadlines are met.  Write copy for weekly on-air program and for digital platforms.  Perform computer-assisted reporting research and database analysis alone and with other team members.  Field produce with photographers.  Help determine guests when needed periodically for weekly show.  Trains others in the above skills.  Other duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Bachelor’s degree and 3 years’ experience in television news, with proven record in investigative and/or long form content.  Knowledge and skills for integrating content with accompanying digital and social platforms.  Able to travel and manage field logistics & production.  Exceptional writing and analysis skills.  Develop and maintain sources that will generate exclusive reports.  Prefer person with strong contact and resource list.  Demonstrated ability to work and use good judgment under pressure, excellent time management skills, meet deadlines, work with a team, collaborate with various producers/directors, and work within the established budget.  Flexibility to work long hours including occasional evenings, weekends and travel.  Possesses valid driver’s license and an acceptable MVR, insurable for driving station vehicles.  Fluent in Spanish (verbal and written) a plus.
